Nina Avis is an American artist, born in Seoul, South Korea, and currently living in Vancouver, Washington, with a focus in acrylic and oil painting. During her undergraduate studies at the University of North Florida,  she began interning as an artist in residence at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in their Art with a Heart in Healthcare program. She has always been interested in the emotional and psychological experience of viewing and creating art and her work up to that point had been an expression of the confusion and neuroticism she felt at the time. During her internship, she witnessed the healing power of art and became more interested in the therapeutic process of creation. Over the years her work has become more eclectic, as she allowed herself to explore whatever subjects suited her changing interests. She is currently a volunteer at the Children’s Healing Art Project in Portland, Oregon, and in pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Arts in Medicine.
