Dear Artist Loft Alumni,

When I heard that both The Loft and TAP Studios were shuttering their doors last month I felt a deep sadness for the loss of space and community. The pandemic has hit the Clark County art community hard, and isolated artists from each other as well as the community as a whole. The closing of these two studios left 30 or so artists displaced, including myself.

Over the last month I’ve been working on how I can help reclaim some of that lost space, and do it in a way that’s conducive to our new reality. I’m in the process of starting a new collective studio called North Studios and I’d love for you to join me 🙂

What is North?

Like The Loft, North Studios will be made up of members that share a physical studio space. I’m currently in discussions with the Vancouver Downtown Association and Historic Trust as well as other to find the right location for us to call home. In the meantime we’re focusing on building out a virtual studio, a collective of artists and their work we can share with others. It’s free to join and there’s no obligation to become a paying member, my goal is just to connect artists and their works to the public.

Members who join North this month will get:

• Member listing on NorthStudios.org and an online profile with your bio, examples of your work and your contact details (including links to Instagram/FB/website if wanted)
• Your artwork added to North’s shop. The shop allows the public to browse artwork by category or artist and contact you if they are interested in purchasing. We do NOT handle payments or take a commission at this time, this is just a way for you to get your work online and sell locally!
  Participation in June’s virtual First Friday. The Vancouver Downtown association is including our website and helping to market the new studio for us.
• Updates and priority access to joining our physical space when we settle on a location!
